We do not use analytics, advertising, tracking, or third-party marketing cookies. We do not use cookies to build profiles, and we do not sell or share cookie data. Followny uses only cookies that are strictly necessary and functional to run the service.

What cookies we use

  • Sign-in session cookie (set by our authentication provider). Purpose: keeps you signed in after you sign in with Google or a magic link. Type: strictly necessary, first-party. Duration: lasts your login session, is refreshed while you are signed in, and is cleared on logout or account deletion.
  • Sign-in flow cookie. Purpose: a short-lived cookie set only during the "Continue with Google" sign-in round-trip, to complete the sign-in securely. Type: strictly necessary, first-party. Duration: cleared as soon as sign-in finishes.
  • Language-preference cookie (FOLLOWNY_LOCALE). Purpose: remembers a language you explicitly select. Type: functional, first-party. Duration: up to one year or until changed or cleared. It is set only if you switch languages and is protected with Secure, HttpOnly, and SameSite=Lax attributes.

We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies, we do not use localStorage, and we do not track you across other sites.

No consent banner

Because we use only strictly necessary and functional cookies, no cookie-consent banner is required or shown. Strictly necessary cookies are exempt from consent.

Managing cookies

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Some features, such as staying signed in after you sign in with Google or a magic link, may not work correctly without the sign-in session cookie.

Future changes

If we later introduce analytics, we will use privacy-respecting, cookieless or self-hosted measurement wherever possible, add it here with its name, purpose, and duration, add it to our Privacy Policy's service-provider list before doing so, and, where any such measurement would constitute a sale or share and applicable law requires it, provide the required opt-out.
